Janno Weterings: 36 days of traineeship

‘36-day internship at a B2B company’. With that assignment, Janno Weterings started looking for a suitable internship. Janno tapped into his network and was thus tipped off about CREON. His internship flew by, but above all it was an educative and fun time. At the end of his internship, Janno wrote this traineeship report.

I study Marketing Management at Avans Den Bosch. This is an Associate Degree (AD), a two-year, practice-oriented higher vocational education programme. After these two years, I obtain my degree and can choose to enter the third year of a bachelor’s programme or start working.

How I ended up at CREON

Already in block 4 of the first year, I had to do a 36-day internship with a B2B company that matched the study programme. I had to choose either marketing or sales. I knew beforehand that marketing appealed to me more, so I started looking for a nice work placement company to join. I looked at the companies the school offered and searched on LinkedIn. However, the golden tip came from my coach, who had a contact at a nice company in Tilburg. That company was CREON. After looking at their website, I immediately became enthusiastic, especially because of the unique products and the interesting sectors they operate in. I contacted Femke (Marketing Communication Specialist) and was invited for an initial interview. After this pleasant conversation, I was offered an traineeship at CREON under Femke’s supervision.

The first impression

On my first placement day, I was warmly welcomed by CREON’s staff, which made me feel good right away. Femke gave me assignments to get to know the company better, such as a market research on its industries, clients and competitors. I also approached partners to gather information for the website’s partner page. I could always turn to Femke for questions and feedback, which made this process run smoothly.

My work activities

During my work placement, I handled several tasks that fitted well with my studies. The most proud I am of my social media posts and the competitor analysis. Working on these assignments gave me great satisfaction because they also added a lot of value to CREON. In addition, I improved my graphics skills and figured out how to combine AI and marketing.

The team

Beforehand, I had no idea what to expect from the CREON team, but it soon became clear to me that this team is one of a kind! The employees are professional, but interact informally among each other. It feels like a group of friends working together. Right from the start, I felt comfortable and gained a lot of self-confidence. This ensured that I had a great traineeship period!

During the short work placement period, I also got to participate in the annual team outing. It was a super fun day: cycling with tandems to LaTrappe, bowling and stone grilling.

Highly recommended!

I would graciously like to thank everyone at CREON for the fun work experience and the personal growth I experienced. The traineeship lasted ‘only’ 36 days and seemed to fly by because it was so much fun to be at CREON. For this, I am very grateful. I would recommend any student looking for a fun work placement company, where you can take steps in your development, to contact CREON.
